Software for Researchers and Students

The software I have developed is aimed at academic users, and in particular at the philosophical community, in order to provide tools that will make research and collaboration easier.

TextCiteTextCite is a program for organizing and commenting textual citations from texts (books, articles, or other published works) for use in producing scientific or academic publications. You can organize by publication, author, category, or outline. It works with bibliographic management programs like Citation, EndNote, RefWorks, and BibTeX, providing important text/citation management capabilities that these programs lack, while still allowing for rapid footnote and bibliography generation by means of your favorite bibliography manager. It also exports to PDF and Word (RTF). Written in Java, TextCite runs on pretty much any computer with Java 1.5+ installed. It includes extensive help and interface translations in English and Spanish.

palmwordsPalmWords is an extensive Latin-English dictionary written for the PalmOS (versions 3.1 and higher). It uses the lexicon developed by William Whitaker for his Latin Words. PalmWords provides an excellent resource for reading your favorite Latin works. It's especially useful for non-Classical texts, since Whitaker's lexicon includes a large amount of medieval and modern words. PalmWords is a huge help, for instance, in reading "Harrius Potter", which uses an enormous quantity of rare words.

palmwordsThinkingCap was created to provide an online forum for doing collaborate philosophy in the Medieval Scholastic manner, following the method of thedisputatio. It is currently in a usable state, but is not undergoing development at this time.

ciceroLatinTools is a set of programs that I host for helping Latin students master verbs, nouns and pronouns. LQUIZ was written by Shahram Najm, and provides excellent testing of noun declensions and verb conjugations. PPARTS is a "flashcard" type program useful for learning the principal parts of the standard first-year Latin verbs.

palmwordsThe Philosopher's Toolbox is a set of programs to help philosophers do better philosophy. Most are programs and data for working with a "map" of the history of philosophy, in particular a program for learning the doctrines of important philosophers.
